The League confirmed this Wednesday that the meeting between Vitória de Guimarães and Gil Vicente, which ends the League on Sunday, will take place behind closed doors at the D. Afonso Henriques stadium.
This decision results from compliance with the disciplinary sanction applied in the context of procedure no. 55-19/20 by the Disciplinary Board (CD) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF).
In a statement, the organization confirms what was said on Monday – the match will be without fans following a disciplinary procedure instituted by the CD due to incidents during the reception at Benfica more than two years ago, the January 4, 2020.
“Following the communication from Vitória Sport Clube – Futebol, SAD, dated May 9, 2022, regarding compliance with the disciplinary sanction applied under the disciplinary procedure No. Professional of the Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation, we inform you that game n.º 13405 of the Liga Portugal bwin of the sports season 2021-22, to be played between the teams of Vitória Sport Clube – Futebol, SAD and Gil Vicente Futebol Clube – Futebol, SDUQ, Lda., the May 15 at 8:30 a.m., broadcast by Sport TV, will take place behind closed doors.
The sanction imposed a match behind closed doors and a fine of 29,631 euros, but the Minho club presented an injunction to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD) in September 2020; however, the club has meanwhile communicated with the League, which has agreed to play the last game of the season behind closed doors.
The Victorians are in sixth position, with 45 points, six behind Gil Vicente, that is to say without any chance of reaching fifth place.
It is recalled that the match in question, during the 2019/20 season, was stopped several times, the first of which was after Cervi opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, due to the throwing of torches on the grass, he would stop more times due to the throwing of chairs and other pyrotechnics.
