Police arrest prison guard and prisoner

It’s an unlikely couple who are on the run together: inmate Casey White and his alleged aide, prison guard Vicky White. But after more than a week of flying, they are caught by the police – but the officer dies soon after.

After a week and a half of a manhunt, US police have arrested a murder suspect and a correctional officer who allegedly helped him escape. The officer later died in hospital from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, media reported citing Vanderburgh County, Indiana Sheriff Dave Wedding. Lauderdale, Alabama County Sheriff Rick Singleton said Casey White, 38, and Vicky White, 56 – who are not related – were arrested in Indiana after a car chase. In the end, there was an accident.

Citing previous information from the sheriff, broadcaster CNN reported a possible romantic relationship between Casey White and Vicky White, who reportedly met in 2020. Singleton said: “We pulled a dangerous man off the streets today. He doesn’t will never see the light of day again.” Casey White was serving a 75-year sentence for a wide range of offenses when he escaped from Lauderdale County Jail, police say. He was also charged with the murder of a 58-year-old woman.

Vicky White is accused of helping to escape and faces up to ten years in prison. “She has some answers for us,” Singleton said. According to the sheriff, a tip from the public led to the arrest. Casey White had a $10,000 bounty on her head and Vicky White had a $5,000 bounty on her head. They had been wanted across the country since April 29. Police warned they were dangerous and could be armed. CNN reported that prior to the escape, Vicky White said she was taking Casey White from jail to court – they never got there. Shortly before, the 58-year-old had sold her home well below market value.
