Benfica and River Plate are already talking about Enzo Fernández

Benfica are looking for a new Enzo: Fernández is the nickname of the midfielder destined for River Plate, where he is a colleague of Enzo Pérez, who was missed by Luz.

The file is led by the sporting director, Rui Pedro Braz, and after initial contacts with the player and the businessman, which even resulted in a meeting in a restaurant in Buenos Aires, Benfica is now in dialogue with the “Millonarios”.

The Argentine emblem has sent the message abroad that he only releases the player through the release clause, set at 20 million euros.

Although he is very young, Enzo Fernández is considered by the leaders of Benfica as a safe bet for the central midfielder. An actor who gives guarantees right away, but who also has room for growth, and who, in this sense, can generate substantial income in the future.

The River Plate player’s performances have already attracted interest from several European clubs, but Benfica hope they can still play in anticipation, one way or another, and secure the signing before the value swells further.

Born in San Martín, a town in the Buenos Aires region, Enzo Fernández joined River Plate in 2005 and made his first-team debut in March 2020, under Marcelo Gallardo.

Between 2020 and 2021, he was loaned out to Defensa y Justicia, but then returned to River, a club for which he played 43 games (and 11 goals).
