Benfica in the last four of the European League

Benfica are in the last four of the European Handball League, another great achievement for sport in Portugal, it is only the second time that a Portuguese team has reached this stage of the competition, after FC Porto achieved in 2018/19.

This time, history is written by the eagles, who had never been so far in European Handball Federation competitions. Remember, moreover, that the European League is the second most important interclub competition.

With the comfort of seven goals at the highest (36-29) achieved in Luz, during the first leg of these quarter-finals, the men of Chema Rodriguez recovered after a timeout requested by the Spaniard, while they lost by 6-3, arrived at half-time to win by four (11-15).

In other words, 30 minutes from the end, Benfica had 11 goals to concede, which they did with mastery, after finishing the game in a draw with 27 balls.

Swede Jonas Kallman, with five goals from six shots, was Benfica’s top scorer.
