Sporting hosted and defeated SC Braga, 2-1, in a game of the 13th and penultimate round of the BPI League qualifying phase, which took place this Sunday morning, at the Estádio Aurélio Pereira, at the Academia de Alcochete.

Diana Silva, in the 4th minute, after an excellent assist from Brenda Pérez, had no trouble beating Patrícia Morais and opened the scoring for the side led by Mariana Cabral. Assisted on the goal of the Portuguese international, the Spaniard of Sporting also feasted on the foot when, in the 31st minute, she took advantage of a ball rebound in the surface of Minho to draw 2-0 .

The reaction from the arsenalists came in the first seconds of the second leg, with Vitória Almeida benefiting from a ball left by a Bruna Lourenço cut against Vanessa Marques and reducing the disadvantage.

Until the end, there were dangerous situations near the two goals, but the marker did not move.

With this triumph, Sporting now has 30 points and secures 2nd place in the championship – Benfica had celebrated their title in the previous round. SC Braga keep the 22 points with which they entered this round, which is why they can no longer overtake the lionesses in the vice direction.

In the next round, the last of this qualifying phase of the champions, Sporting moves to the stronghold of Torreense (Sunday, at 11 a.m.), while SC Braga receives Famalicão (Sunday, at 4 p.m.).
