Marco Rose will not be Borussia Dortmund coach for the coming season, with the club announcing on Friday that the two parties have decided to part ways after an “in-depth analysis of the season” by football strongmen: Joachim Watzke (CEO), Michael Zorc (Sporting Director), Sebastian Kehl (Head of Licensed Players Department) and Matthias Sammer (External Consultant).
“Today is not easy for any of us as the mutual respect between us was, is and continues to be enormous. After an unsatisfying season for various reasons, we realized that we had not taken advantage of our opportunities in many areas”, justified Hans-Joachim Watzke.
“Despite the difficult season with many unforeseen events, I was convinced of our course. During our conversation, I got the impression that the trust of all those responsible had ceased to exist. That’s why we decided to end this cycle,” said Marco Rose.
Borussia Dortmund, it should be noted, finished in second place in the Bundesliga, in addition to remaining in the group stage of the Champions League (and Europa League play-offs). Moreover, in the other domestic competitions, he reached the knockout stages of the German Cup and lost the Supercup for Bayern.
Borussia Dortmund and coach Marco Rose are ending their collaboration.
