Cova da Piedade has guaranteed permanence in Liga 3, but not even in the CdP will not be able to play

Fail certification and cannot register for national testing.

Cova da Piedade SAD have failed to be certified by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and will not be able to register for the national championships next season, club president Paulo Veiga said on Wednesday.

The information was confirmed to the Lusa agency by a source linked to the Piédans sports society, which despite guaranteed maintenance in Liga 3, will not even be able to compete in the Portuguese Championship, the fourth Portuguese competitive level.

In this way, added the same source, Cova da Piedade SAD should continue its activity in Division I of the Football Association of Setúbal.

According to Paulo Veiga, the club waited for an agreement with SAD until the certification process was closed, but there was no agreement between the parties and the sports company failed, thus the deadline to complete the process certification for FPF competitions.

The club has been in open dispute for several years with SAD, which this year played its Liga 3 matches at the Estádio das Seixas, in Malveira da Serra, abandoned the Estádio Municipal José Martins Vieira, in Almada.

Cova da Piedade goes to the elections on Friday and Paulo Veiga, who leads the only candidate list, recalled that the partners recently decided, in a general meeting, to proceed with the “request for insolvency of SAD”.

At the end of last season, Cova da Piedade was relegated administratively to Ligue 3, after having ensured its maintenance in Ligue II, for having missed the registration deadlines in professional competitions.

In this way, he goes down administratively, by two steps, despite a guaranteed maintenance in Ligue 3, finishing in 2nd place in Series 5 of the maintenance phase.
