Former Vitesse player dies after jumping off a cliff in Spain

youA tourist died last Thursday jumping from a cliff more than 20 meters high in the southwest of Mallorca. This Tuesday, the Spanish press identified the man as Mourad Lamabatte, a 31-year-old former footballer.

The incident happened early Thursday afternoon. The former footballer and his family were spending time on the Spanish coast when Lamabatte decided to jump off a cliff into the water, a dangerous maneuver that ultimately cost him his life.

In free fall, already close to the water, the former player ended up hitting the rocks, losing consciousness under the impact. Lamrabatte’s body sank and was not recovered until hours later by a group of Guardia Civil divers.

Lamrabatt trained at Vitesse in the Netherlands. He won a competition for the youth teams of the Netherlands national team and eventually retired from football to devote himself to martial arts.
