LE BALLON – Monaco wins a comeback and takes second place (France)

Hot fight in France for the Champions League. Monaco lost 0-2 at home against Brest, but ended up winning 4-2 and taking second place in the standings from Marseille, beaten in Rennes (0-2).

Gelson Martins broke into the principality side in the 79th minute, which at the time had already turned around with goals from Ben Yedder (3) and Volland, responding to early goals from the visitors, Duverne and Belaili.

With the triumph, Monaco chained 68 points and snatched second place in the standings from Marseille, although tied on points, after a defeat in Rennes (goals from Bourigeaud and Majer still in the first half). The fight for second place, access to the Champions League, is hot, since Rennes have 65 points in fourth place.

On the downside, Bordeaux, with the Portuguese Ricardo Mangas in the starting lineup (replaced at 74′), equalized at the reception in Lorient and consumed relegation. Saint-Etienne (defeated at home) and Metz (victory against Angers) go to the last lap to decide who will go to the maintenance dams.

Reference is also made to Paris Saint-Germain, who after three straight draws traveled to Montpellier to hug the home side 4-0, with goals from Messi (2), Di María and Mbappé. Nuno Mendes came on in the 85th minute, while Danilo Pereira didn’t come off the bench.

Lille, with José Fonte and Tiago Djaló in the starting XI (Xeca is injured and Renato Sanches suspended), won 3-1 at Nice. Anthony Lopes was in goal for Lyon, who beat Nantes 3-2.
