Official: Carlos Carvalhal leaves SC Braga

Carlos Carvalhal will leave SC Braga after two seasons at the helm. The confirmation was given at the end of the morning of this Monday by the club which, in a press release, underlined that the departure comes from the coach, since the Minho wanted the retention of the coach.

“SC Braga, SAD informs that after the two years provided for in the contract, Carlos Carvalhal ceases his link with the Club. fair, which intends to close the cycle at SC Braga and embrace new sporting projects”, can we read on the official website of the club, which finished in 4th place in the I Liga 2021/22.

The news of Carlos Carvalhal’s departure comes after the last round of the championship, which SC Braga ended in defeat against Famalicão by 3-2. At the end of the encounter, when asked about his continuity, Carvalhal said now was not the time to talk and that he would speak to club president António Salvador before announcing the future.

In the two seasons at Braga, where he was also a player, Carlos Carvalhal achieved two fourth places, failing to achieve the goal of upsetting the big three in the table. The first season was marked by the victory in the Portuguese Cup, against Benfica. This season will have had as its high point participation in the Europa League, where SC Braga only fell in the quarter-finals, losing to finalists Rangers.
