A serious train accident has occurred near Vienna. Emergency services report one dead and many injured. Nothing is known about the cause of the accident.
At least one person has died in a train crash near the Austrian capital Vienna. As the authorities announced, a train in the Mödling district derailed in the early evening. Two wagons of the so-called Raaberbahn fell.

According to the Red Cross, three people were seriously injured and nine others lightly injured. A hundred uninjured passengers were transported to a rescue center. The Austrian newspaper “Der Standard” even reported about thirty injuries, citing an employee of the emergency call center.
Photos from the crash scene show that two cars slid down a low embankment. One of them is in a field a few meters from the railway embankment.
According to initial information, around 100 rescuers and four helicopters have been deployed to the Münchendorf area to rescue the victims. No information was initially available on the cause of the crash.
