Pit Beirer explains why Miguel Oliveira’s contract renewal hasn’t been announced yet

Like Ducati, KTM still only has one official rider for 2023 and 2024 with Brad Binder securing where he will be for the next two seasons. In the case of Miguel Oliveira, the Austrian manufacturer has not yet announced a project, but the Portuguese continues to benefit from the confidence of Pit Beirer.

In an interview the KTM Motorsports director gave to Speedweek, Beirer was asked if Oliveira should be concerned that he hasn’t yet been announced as part of Mattighofen’s plans.

‘Miguel picked up a win at Mandalika in March. It happened in the rain, but in the MotoGP class you have to achieve such success first. He continues to enjoy our trust.replied the former Motocross rider.

Next, Beirer explained why the contract renewal with #88 hasn’t been made official yet:

– We decided, after confirming Suzuki’s departure, that we would spend our time seeing what was happening in the rider market. Above all, we want to be absolutely sure that the riders who exchange with us really want to ride with us because the total commitment of the riders is required. That’s why no one is 100% set at this point except Brad Binder who is doing an outstanding job for us anyway and is one hell of a fighter. We are now in the middle of this round of negotiations, in which my esteemed colleagues from the other factory teams also find themselves.
