The death of a young man during FC Porto’s national championship title celebrations in the early hours of Sunday was due to “personal problems” between the victim and the attacker, a police source told Lusa this tuesday.
A source linked to the investigation explained that “there was a personal matter, disagreements, between the victim, the family of the accused and the accused himself”, 19, arrested Monday evening by the police judiciary (JP).
The same source clarified that the episode of violence “was not a dispute over territories, nor wars between armed ‘gangs’, nor had to do with football”, adding that, during the attacks, no firearm was used, only the knife the accused had fatally stabbed the 26-year-old victim.
The defendant, a cleaning worker with no criminal record, will be present this Tuesday at the first judicial interrogation at the Criminal Investigation Court (TIC) of Porto for the application of coercive measures.
In a statement released Tuesday morning, the PJ said it arrested a 19-year-old man on Monday for committing the crime of aggravated homicide.
The facts took place in the early hours of Sunday in the city of Porto, “in retaliation for a succession of attacks which, since January of this year, had taken place between the accused, his family and the victim”, adds this criminal. investigative force.
“On this occasion, a group of individuals, including the accused, pursued the victim, reaching and punching and kicking him,” the note said.
The PJ affirms that after the intervention of some people, who were also attacked, the victim moved away from the scene, but would have been approached by the accused who, “armed with a bladed weapon of significant dimensions, the struck several times and with extreme violence”. . , causing his death.
In the early hours of Sunday, a 26-year-old man was stabbed to death, and Porto PSP identified the suspects in the attacks that led to his death near the Estádio do Dragão, where tens of thousands of supporters gathered. gathered.
The woman who accompanied the victim, and who allegedly tried to separate the disputes, was also slightly injured.
