A Conservative Tory politician has been arrested in Britain. He is accused of several acts of sexual violence. Recently, similar cases had accumulated in London.
A ruling party MP in the UK has been arrested over allegations of sexual violence. London police said on Tuesday the suspect had been charged with various crimes, including sexual assault and rape, between 2002 and 2009. A spokeswoman for the Conservative Conservative Party said the MP concerned had been ordered to stay away from Parliament while the investigation continues.
Neither the police nor the party spokeswoman identified the accused. According to the police, the man is between 50 and 60 years old. The crimes he was accused of were committed in London. The investigation is ongoing and the suspect is in custody until further notice, police said.
Complaints against at least 56 MPs
Such allegations have recently multiplied in Britain. Parliament’s complaints office is currently taking action against at least 56 MPs suspected of sexual misconduct, including three ministers. Tory MP Neil Parish resigned last month after admitting watching pornography on his phone in the House.
Additionally, Conservative MP Imran Ahmad Khan resigned over allegations of sexual violence. The 48-year-old was found guilty by a jury of forcing a then 15-year-old boy to drink alcohol at a party in 2008 and then touching him sexually. The Conservatives immediately expelled him from the party.
