The coach took charge of the Eindhoven team for the last time and is preparing to move to Benfica

After the 2-1 victory in Zwolle, Roger Schmidt bade farewell to PSV. Benfica’s future manager has left talks about the future for later, making it clear that he will still be spending time with the Eindhoven side’s players. “It was a great honor to be part of the club. I will always look back positively and keep good contact with the club. I have a lot of experience and I know how important it is to finish on a positive note. . I will spend time with the team and then I think about the future,” he told ‘ESPN’, as quoted by the club’s website. “Now I’m ready for PSV,” continues Schmidt. “It was a great honor to be part of the club. I am very grateful to Toon Gerbrands and John de Jong. I will always look back positively on my stay here and I will keep in touch with the club in a pleasant way. I have a lot of experience as a manager and I know how important it is to end on a positive note. I will spend time with the team from time to time and think about the future.”

PSV entered this Saturday without any chance of being champions, but Schmidt considered the victory important and made a small assessment of the season. “The team was a bit tired. We played 58 games. It was very hot and the opponents were fierce despite relegation. We did our best and won. 81 points is not a bad result. I came here to win, even though there was not much to fight for,” he said.
