Tesla competitor launches luxury electric sedan on European market

There is new competition for Mercedes EQS, Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT and the BMW i7: After the Tesla Model S, the Lucid Air is also coming to Europe. The range is high – the price too.

There’s a new challenger in the electric luxury class. A year after its US launch, Lucid is also bringing its Air luxury sedan to Europe at the end of the year. Here it competes alongside the Tesla Model S against models such as Mercedes EQS, Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT and the upcoming BMW i7.

According to the manufacturer, the price of the first edition in the so-called Dream Edition is 218,000 euros.

The first edition with 1111 hp

Instead, there is a five-seater with a decidedly clean design, about five meters long, which marks the top of the segment in all respects with its performance data: according to the manufacturer, the engines reach up to 828 kW/1,111 hp, the top speed is 270 km/h. And with its 118 kWh battery capacity, the Air should have a WLTP range of 900 kilometres, according to Lucid.

After the first edition, however, Lucid downgraded and offered the Air in three not-so-plush versions at prices that should start around $100,000.

Pure, Touring and Grand Touring will follow

According to the manufacturer, the base model Pure is expected to come with a single 353 kW/480 hp engine and a US range of 620 kilometres, the Touring comes with two 456 kW/620 hp engines and can go up to 650 kilometers and for the future The top-of-the-range Grand Touring model promises 588 kW/800 hp and 830 kilometres.
