Pedro Proença met this Monday with António Mendonça Mendes, Undersecretary of State and Fiscal Affairs. On the table was the taxation of professional football in Portugal, in a meeting also attended by João Paulo Correia (Secretary of State for Youth and Sports), Filipe Pais (Head of the League President’s Office) and Rui Caeiro (Executive Director of the League).
Among the measures mentioned were the fiscal framework in terms of VAT, namely the reduction in the rate of tickets for sports events and the increase in activities subject to tax deduction, the IRC and the IRS for a reduction in the tax on sports and the recovery of the fast-wearing profession, and adequate tax benefits to give equal treatment to this economic sector.
