In statements published this Friday by the official Instagram page of FC Porto, Pepe shared the anguish of finally being able to celebrate a title for FC Porto on Avenida dos Aliados.
“During my first time at FC Porto, the old people talked a lot in the locker room and I was happy to be champion, but I didn’t celebrate at Aliados, because, at the time, [n.d.r. havia corte de relações com o autarca do Porto o atual líder do PSD, Rui Rio], we celebrated on the balcony of the Estádio do Dragão. Then we were champions in 2020, but there was the pandemic and we couldn’t celebrate at the Allies. Fortunately, this time has come, it was a dream of mine, I wanted to achieve this goal. To be able to become national champion is a great joy, in addition to being able to know this environment which I was told so much about during my first visit, ”shared the captain of the dragons.
The only time Pepe celebrated on the porch of the Porto City Council, with Rui Moreira as president, was at the service of the national team: “We were received by the mayor with the national team [após a conquista da Liga das Nações] and imagined being there with FC Porto. When I close my eyes, it comes to mind, to be there with the FC Porto fans. I have worked hard for this day to come. Fortunately, I will be able to realize this dream.
Finally, Pepe said: “I hope I can win this match with Estoril so that I can celebrate with them the title and the victory on the way to the Aliados. After such a difficult year, we want to demonstrate that it is gratifying to be able to count on their support. Together we are very strong, we hope to make this evening something special for everyone. We all deserve a lot.
